The game as it has been titled released just a few days ago on the 26th of April, 2013 is set somewhere between the 2009 Star Trek movie and the next Star Trek - Into the Darkness movie that is due to be released on the 17th of May, 2013
I created a video to show you the intro level of the game with introduces a few aspects and shows how much it has been designed for co-op play. The game itself is very easy to learn and lots of familiar mechanics that we have been accustomed to from games like Mass Effect, ducking behind cover, jumping from ledge to ledge and button mashing or in this case spamming the E key on the keyboard to open a door.
Playing on a macintosh proved a little challenging as certain keys like page up / down not being present on the macintosh keyboard without using a combination of keys and this was the first interaction with the game when selecting between your two character options (Spock or Kirk) also the fact that the left ctrl is is not conveniently placed for gaming.
Graphically the game is pleasing but the graphics do look a little dated for a 2013 game compared to games like Mass Effect 3. I am very much looking forward to playing this game thru as I have just recently watched the last movie and looking forward to the new movie next month.
Having a little bit of a subscriber base problem since launch. Funcom has decided to adopt a subscription free model in an attempt to increase the population on their servers, the falling share prices and the current world economy for online gaming has forced this bold move by Funcom. Having played this game while it was subscription based tho not lacking in players just didn't have that MMO feel about the game, there is none of that addictive sauce we are looking for in an online game.
The Secret World has alot more polish than other online game launches that Funcom has served up in the past, some initial performance issues due to memory leaks (another engine/coding issue Funcom has experienced in the past) and yet failed to rectify in their latest incarnation of MMORPG.
I will take another look at The Secret World, check out the latest changes and see if there is that special sauce that this title was missing.

Tommorow's UHD TV with yesterday's Android, this does inspire some thoughts about having a TV in my living room with a Tegra 3 powered OS. Something just irks me when a company releases a press release and cries "latest" and "Ice Cream Sandwich OS" in the same sentence. Will have to wait till they release this and depending on the price point and if I can get my hands on a 4K demo reel like we are used to seeing from the placeholder loop before HD broadcast free-to-air.

Have you bought a 7 port USB 3.0 hub thinking that you could use all 7 ports? Well it seems that alot of the 7 port USB hubs out there aren't telling you that only 3 or 4 of the ports are capable of USB 3.0. Do you have this problem where only 3 or 4 of your USB 3.0 ports are working on your 7 port USB hub? reports seem to show that some manufacturers are being naughty and advertising theirs as 7 port USB 3.0 hub
I was looking forward to the Microsoft Surface, but its over priced and riddled with bugs. The device had alot of promise, but looks like will have to see what happens after a few software updates the way it is now and at $689 for a 32GB with touch cover... Thanks, but No Thanks.
Surface Pro might still be the device we have been waiting for, iPad for IOS and Asus Transformer for Android are still miles ahead.
